The Alyth Scout Group are well set-up for lots more outdoor activity this year, thanks to a ?2000 grant from our Community Projects Fund. The money has helped them buy 12 new hike tents and shelters for use by all sections of the Group.
Scout leader Ron Kirkpatrick explained: ?Our present tentage is not adequate in numbers or condition, and we?re buying new lightweight camping equipment that can be used by every section – Beavers, Cubs Scouts and Explorer Scouts. This equipment will enable us to provide outdoor adventure for our entire group. Each section is working at maximum numbers with the Beavers & Cubs having waiting lists.?
The new gear will be put to its first real test when 41 scouts and leaders from the Group travel to Sweden for a camp later this year. The ADT Community Projects Fund distributes community benefits payments we receive from Temporis Ltd, operators of the Tullymurdoch Windfarm north of Alyth.
