Join our September board meeting

Our next board meeting is on Monday 5 September on Zoom at 7pm. Why not join us and hear more about what we’re up to? You don’t need to be a member – just ask us for the login details before the meeting. Alternatively, join us via the simple form at right – it’s completely free! The more members we have, the better we can speak up for Alyth to local and national government and funding bodies. While you’re here, have a look at the minutes of previous meetings to find out more about us.

Flood Team Communications Officer needed

The new retained flood team for Alyth (AFT), whose members will serve as trained volunteers in an actual flood, needs a dedicated Communications Officer – could it be you?

The Flood Team works with advice and support from Scottish Flood Forum and funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. They will be trained to operate independently when required during a flood, similar to Alyth’s Fire Team during a fire, collaborating with ACSG, ADT and others on day-to-day issues at other times.

The Comms Officer will have particular responsibility for creating clear messaging for emergency and non-emergency communication with the general public, as well as maintaining up-to-the-minute communication with the Flood Team and other organisations and groups while a flood is in progress. Could you be part of the new Retained Flood Team?

There’s still time to apply to join the new retained flood team for Alyth (AFT), whose members will serve as trained volunteers in an actual flood working with advice and support from Scottish Flood Forum and funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The AFT will be trained to operate independently when required during a flood, similar to Alyth’s Fire Team during a fire. They will collaborate with ACSG, ADT and others on day-to-day issues at other times. All of this will be repeatedly publicised throughout the town so that everyone knows what happens when the water rises. Click on the image below left or download the full details here.

As well as team members, we’re also recruiting for a dedicated Communications Officer, responsible for creating clear messaging for emergency and non-emergency communication with the general public, as well as maintaining up to the minute communication with the flood team and other organisations and groups while a flood is in progress. Strathmore Cycle Network – leaflet and map now available

The map shows various routes between Alyth and Rattray, including the newly-built stretch of multi-user path (in red)

The three local development trusts creating the Strathmore Cycle Network have published a leaflet describing the first phase of the ?1.6-million project. The leaflet includes a specially-commissioned map showing the newly-built multi-user path opened late last year, together with the “green routes” – walking and cycling friendly country lanes – recently designated by Perth & Kinross Council. The leaflet also includes useful information about the Network and background on the organisations behind it. The leaflet is being made available in various locations around the district, or you can download a pdf from here. And find out more about the Strathmore Cycle Network on our Projects page.
